OS brake pads

I'm trying to retain some authenticity on my rider but becoming fed up with the football pitch stopping distance of white DC pads & I don't want to use NS for the reason above.

Any recommendations?

I guess you're using Tuffs?  if so not much works Rich other than clear new school pads.  for a rider i wouldn't worry to much about era correctness and brake pads

Why would you think that? !
No I'm using the other...
It's just something I want to do. If there really isn't any that will suffice then I will seek a more contemporary solution.

The only benefit I see of using white DC blocks on Skyways is that you don't need a bell fitted on your bike to warn people of your imminent impact with them.

I think they should produce a highway code style stopping distance for this such block/rim combo.

In the wet? Well who knows when you'll stop!

what about brown DC blocks?  they always seem to work pretty well on normal rims 

i just presumed you were using Tuffs with white blocks

I've read the mathauser/kool stop salmon ones are good esp in the wet, but haven't tried them myself yet
you can get the non-finned repro mathauser very cheap

but new school squeakers will do the trick - stopped me dead on tuffs at the bottom of a massive hill on the way to Brighton when the lights turned red. They gripped so much there was a burning smell 

the squeaking would also help alert any drunken tramps to your presence at night as you rapidly approach them on the pavement

I reiterate- I'm not looking for just a good pad, I want to know if there are any decent OS pads.

The only old school set up known to work was a trainer wedged between seatpost and the wheel, so do that and you'll look proper old school which a groove on the bottom of you adidas kicks.

Try Koolstop Continentals, they have the look you require and should work ok. Obviously, if the rest of your brake set is 'Old School then try two pieces of wet toast as this exercise will also be pointless.

An Odyssey Slic cable could be the answer.

Bren it's not so much about aesthetics rather the authenticity.  Although I'm beginning to realise I may have to purchase new ones.
The set-up is 1000 with Tech 2...shock, horror, yes Tech 2...!

in which case good luck stopping with whatever pads you use

The only way a Tech2 lever ever stapped a bike was if it fell into the spokes Rich..... FFS mate, gotta be the most pointless brake set-up for a rider
