Rad Facebook page being used to sell stuff, thoughts please

Just suspend the page so no one can post on it, re activate it if this site goes down again, jobs a good un 

I was gonna bin the page because i'm sick of seeing all the for sale posts, but i couldn't work out how to

I'm not big on all the social networking thing but I'm sure its the Devils Window - you never know whose going to invite themselves and I like we subscribe as site supporters.

you're not going to stop people using facebook, so simply shutting down the page and hoping it will all stop isn't going to achieve much

the radbmx page is generally free of sales posts (or they're not on there for long) and without doing anything membership is growing (wouldn't be surprised it it's over 1000 by the end of the year)
I can tell you that I've seen a few members sign up here after discovering the forum via facebook, so it's not entirely evil 

there's also a site supporter's lounge on there where you can post whatever you like - it's hidden from public view though so if anyone needs adding just contact me through the general page & I can add you

SST funds also support MK, and that was a huge success this year.

The for sale thread is simply quiet at ATM, I'm sure things will start to move again in the New Year.

Don't worry, there's no selling like that on the non-site supporter page Craig, to be fair to people with site tags the only sales threads allowed on there are those with a link to the sales section of this site (it's just a way to get your items seen by a few more people)

the site supporter lounge is only for site supporters, so obviously selling is fine there in theory - in practice though there's not been much selling going on - is mostly swearing and abuse and the odd picture of topless women on  bikes

People can do what the fook they want on the 'other' site.  I choose not to be a part of it as the constant one line posts of 'what's this worth?' and 'make me an offer' did my melon in.  People with no clue about BMX or trying to start an auction for shyte stuff they found in a skip.

the only group that actively encourages people not to buy site tags is the fake one
you can't sell on either of the Rad groups without a tag
up to the conscience of members if they want to use it or support the site that puts MK on each year

I can understand why some people would rather sell on the other groups, it's the simplicity of just being able to upload a pic directly from your phone, rather than the hassle of uploading via photofookit.

I'm guilty of this, I sold some tyres on FB to Jono, without even considering the impact it may have on here though, so I'll sell anything on here now if I need to.

Had to join facebook to see what it was all about, reminds me of message boards that were around years ago, main differences being you can access it from a phone as opposed to just a PC and pics are much easier to upload than they were in the past. 

With sections forums are more organised and the search function means they can be used as a resource.

I can see each format has advantages but I think a forum is definitely the best platform for a hobby like this.

Maybe the RADBMX page could just be used to and attract and direct people to the site, for example, give details of events and whats happening on the site.
