Rad Facebook page being used to sell stuff, thoughts please

This is a group page for Radbmx community members, not a sales page.
No selling stuff in here, but you can post links to any items you are already selling on radbmx.co.uk (which supports the community). If you want to sell directly through Facebook or solicit 'offers', then other groups are available online.
As is ebay, gumtree and the classified section of your local paper.

Personally if i wanted to sell something, i'd want as many people as possible to see it so it does actually sell. If it doesn't sell here on RAD then i'll divert to other areas such as FB. I haven't actually had anything to sell on FB yet but i can see where it would help the seller a lot.
There are a fair few people on FB that are not on RAD and to be honest probably have no interest in forums.

Personally i'd leave as, i can't see how you can police it, i don't see that it offends anyone, it certainly doesn't me anyhow.

I'm not your leader nor do I run Rad, much to some people's opinions, but we need to participate on the forum, and Facebook, if only to attract new members.

What we need to do is stop fighting, bickering, he said they said, accusations with no substance.

We did so well at MK13 and got  together and embraced this hobbie of ours and shared a few beers and laughs. Where we weren't quite joined up was where some folks still kept away in the fear of 'rigging' in show and shine by 'fixed judges' - well I can only give you my word their not......but hey, next year we will ask YOU to be judges, so to knock that on the head.

We need to stop fighting, slagging  each other off, banned members v existing members goading each other, your grown men ffs. And yes, your back on here, I know who you are, your welcome back if you can all stop fighting, and that message should be taken on by the goaders too.

Yes, we need the revenue from site tags, or MK 14 won't happen and to be honest, why would the mods and admin put it on with all this negativity, I myself have not been on the forum due to it.

We need to have a group hug and participate and keep our hobbie alive chaps, simple!

Back to the thread, the Facebook page was set up due to the past server problems we had, and has kinda grown with momentum. In the early days I deleated  sales, but then it crept back in. My view is we can link in sales on there and not the other way round.

We do need to get back on track lads or our old and new members will simply look in and not bother, so my two pence worth is to simply participate (nicely)

Yep, I can confirm i got asked to judge the s&s this year but had to decline as a) I was too hung over and b) I know fook all about building show bikes

Im not into Facebook at all , but there's no doubt in my mind the RAD Facebook page has contributed to the downturn in RAD  . 

I noticed it on the rides out and at MK especially with people saying ... '' why are you not on RAD Facebook ''  . RAD Facebook seems to of been promoted to high heaven by the users on there while RAD the forum has been neglected . Members then come on RAD and say .... 'it's quiet'  , I wonder why 

Like Nick says it's upto us as members to try and put this right and yes everyone is entitled to do what they want . Just my opinion but i can see RAD Facebook killing this site unless something changes

The FB page was a temporary measure and only there because of the main site ..
It did it's job , it's time to get back to old school ways IMO .

Agree with much of the above. Overall though i think it makes a mockery of the sit supporter tag system.
I agree with keeping sales on here, let Facebook continue if the mods desire, but it wouldn't bother me if this site was the only way to be a part of the scene.

Fair shout Ed - I feel pretty much the same tbh, just thought that it might bring a few decent new members in out of the chancers that often pop up on FB

I've just done a 'purge' of sale posts, ebay links and 'what's this worth' questions, there are still some left but I'm trying to make cottage pies at the same time 
But if the consensus is to get rid, then fair enough

Exactly Ed ...... members are going on FB because it's there and is easily accessible . If it wasn't there the members  would have to find somewhere else to post .....  oh ! that would be back on here hopefully

SUPPORT  the original bmx site RADBMX .... post your sales , wants, rides, opinions etc on here .. leave faceache for finding old school mates etc... we all know RAD has slowed down after the big crash but thats old news now ... LONG LIVE RADBMX ... if you dont come here view and post then you will be slowly digging the grave to the best old school bmx site there is ........   its not rocket science guys . you have to participate and keep this place alive . if every member trys to post one thing a day then this place will start  buzzing  again like the good old days
