Chain tension

Ok, a bit of a question that I should know the answer to.

I am having difficulty getting the chain tension right on my Haro, on my old burners I have the raleigh chain adjusters so its easy to get right. With the Haro I am putting my knuckles between the tyre and the bottom bracket to push the wheel back, lining it up straight and then tightening it. But when I tighten it, I find the wheel moves a touch and the chain seems slightly slack.

Whats the correct chain tension for a bmx? and is there a tried and tested technique for bikes with out chain adjusters?

I always have a few millimetres of slack, it puts less strain on the freewheel and hub.

Mine definately needs looking at then, its more like 20mm slack.

Get some tensioners Steve probably move again when you ride it.

I think I have a new set of 10mm burner copy ones in the garage, I'll have a look,  that will pull the wheel back evenly
