A few subtle changes to my Rickman and my MRD.
« on: September 28, 2013, 05:35 PM »
Having seen my MRD in the attic looking sorry for itself with no tyres on i thought i'd change a few things around this afternoon.

So.........

My Rickman Pro rider has a lovely set of Terry Cable cranks on, now these are too short really to ride around the New Forest on and far too nice so i thought i'd take them out and fit them to my show built MRD. The MRD was sporting a really nice SR Cromo-lite OPC which i swapped to my rider. Then the problem of pedals as the rider was sporting Shimano DX as was the MRD. The DX on the Rider were not good enough for show and i couldn't be arsed to swap spindles. I had some spare Horseshoe pedals so i flung them on the rider.

Before....................

So bits changed and i'm not 100% convinced on the MRD. The Rickman looks fine and will be a better rider for me. I need a new chainring for the MRD and i'm not convinced on the Terry Cable spider, both of these obviously were on my rider and have taken a beating. I fitted some show queen blue/green/grey label comp 3's to the MRD. These were 1.5's and fit lovely with the slightly smaller stuff on the MRD.

After........................

Pedal wise on the MRD ?????????  Could be a waiting game, i have 2 sets of Shimano DX's for it, if i use them i'll have to swap spindles around but i'm not convinced. I might be after something different.

Thoughts please ????

Hey Andy.

I got to be honest, I think the Terry Cables belong on the Rickman rider and the opc looks much better on the MRD. Bot cracking bikes though.  :daumenhoch:

Cheers guys for the thoughts.

I'm also convinced that the MRD needs a three piece crank but maybe not this one  :-\ The chainring/spider looks wrong on the MRD. The OPC will stay on the Rickman for now as i use this bike a lot. The TC cranks make it really hard work on the pedal front.

Are the TC's short then? They don't look it.

Yeah they're 160's martin. Far too short really. Be good for a mini build though.

Andy I had a set of TC's once and whilst they are no doubt the most beautiful cranks ever made, finding them in a usable length for riding and actually matching them to a bike is not an easy task.

The MRD needs a 3pc, end of :yahoo_silent: maybe not a TC, but deffo something you love Andy :daumenhoch:
Still limping......

Not sure if im liking the TC spider on the MRD mate  :-\   I agree the MRD needs a 3pc , just maybe not this one .

I think the TC looks good on the Rickman  8)  just keep them for show and get a longer set up for riding .

Either way there both lovely builds Andy  :4_17_5:
