What about an evening at Wigan Roller rink ?

Hi Guys,

Just a Thought as the nights draw in and the weathers getting unpredictable for those last rides out.

Wigan has one of the largest roller rinks in Europe and as a kid I spent a lot of time here skating, boarding on the half pipe and playing Roller Hockey, well fighting with a stick and a ball would be a better description.

The rink is open every evening from 7-10,costs £4 to get in ad another £2 to hire skates, the theme is still in the 80's musics brilliant and for my good bro over in Leigh there is a fully licensed bar with loads of big leather seating booths... Mint....

I know some of the lads on here go regularly and I was on the resorection team three years back to give my time to volunteer to get it back open for the kids in Wigan to have some fun and enjoy themselves.

They also hire full arm pads, wrist protectors the lot so don't worry......

If you can't skate, no worries I am here to help you get the basics and there is a side rink for you to get your self up and away without going on the large rink.  Bring the wife, girlfriend and the kids......

Speed skating 9:00pm to 9:20 if your feeling like a bit of speeding... 

Any takers guys I can make arrangements for some retro 80's sounds especially for the Radbmx lads as my mate owns the place and Tom the DJ is a big 80's fan.....

Come on let's get a date set up.... Located in trencher field mills wigan near the Pier....

Me too ..... last time i was there  i ended up in A&E !!  ..... fell over and someone ran over my hand , think i was 13 at the time    Never been back since and no plans to    I guess i could keep Carl company in the bar area though .

Standard trim is that for Wigan Bauer boys  I dont think i could go as fast as i used to but id have a go . I can go backwards to ( only when they go the other way tho )

Still old school Bauer for me 651s axles Belair Hockey wheels,variflex clouds still pretty fast but I don't bounce as well anymore completely tore my PCL ligament whilst skating backwards

Still got my old Bauers myself ..... 401 wooden axles , triple flight prince of belair ice hockey wheels running semi pneumatic tyres with variable variflexible  clouds
