My last 80's bike

I was pondering it tonight seeing a PPP disc for sale, I let my Supergoose go for £30 and the tosser still owes me a tenner.

It was a bit after i'd left school so winter of 86 spring of 87.

tech 3's in scratched black with an MX1000 on the back and an 1080 on the front

Most of which i'd had for years and were in a shite state.

Looking at what I have now i'd only need a DX post, a pair of CWs and a PPP disc to do a replica but to be fair it wasn't a pretty bike back then, more of a bike made of all the bits that I couldn't break.

Anyway....What was yours?

Sounds like a pretty cool bike to me and exactly how mine was made up of parts and colours that didn't really match, but more about what I could afford at the time, or just what was available off the shelf or from a mate to replace a broken part.

I think you should build it I would like to see it.

I'd love to build my last bmx of the 80's, but I think i'd struggle to find the cash for it even now and cant remember exactly what components I did have especially the smaller items.

Tbh its sounds more like the bikes we all had and loved bitd. None of us could afford the money spent on here on carpet queens bitd,(I still can not! fook knows what half of you do for a living to have that type of disposable income today  ) from what I remember we all mixed and matched,swapped and traded parts  It would be good to see you build this and I say go for it.I can far easier remember the kid bitd who had an Ammaco frame with Tange forks and all the sugino/suntour parts donated off his Raleigh ultra burner accompanied by a set of Z rims he got for his birthday

ps...Can never remember the kid with his all era correct GT or Haro riding down the street bitd?

I think build it.  Its the bike that will end up meaning the most to you.

I think most of the bikes we build today are testament to Magazine ads, aspirational or simply an accumulation of the most expensive parts we can afford 

BITD a bike lasted in factory spec for as long as it took to save for a new part, by the time it got stolen or sold to buy fags, a can of Top Deck and remote control car it was a complete Smorgasbord of parts - heck I don't even recall my grips matching 

Build it, memories are by far the most valuable thing we own...

Mine was a
chrome Mongoose Cali
spoked rear
black skyway front.
One rear no brand brake for postman skids,
one bald black compe 3 rear from the postmans skids 
red compe 3 front
Sugino chainring, spider and crank

It was a dog to be honest but fast as fook and i would love to rebuild it as is (hence my wanted add for bald tyres a few weeks back)

Mine was a Hutch Pro Racer with the parts off my Kuwahara Nova on it.
Snapped the bars and replaced with Powerlite Pros, changed the 890 for an MX1000 and changed the KKT's for Shimano SX.

Mine was a Stock Pro Class with Renthal Bars (Bought of Pete Middleton), 401's and a set of XC11's

Swapped it for a Kenwood CD player for my 1275 GT mini

I also had a Ripper that was a "play" bike

I'd love to do a rep of that but I'm way too tight to send that sort of money

It's been sitting locked up in my old dears garage, about 2 miles away ,still with shit on it from mk track in '84!!
Fookin pains me every time I think about it, but unfortunately she's a header and I've got more chance of getting 6 balls & a bonus tomorrow than get it back
