Grip Donuts
« on: September 21, 2013, 11:11 PM »
Has anyone ever made grip donuts from a mouse mat? I only ask as I am thinking of doing it but want to make sure the cloth stays attached to the foam when cut up  :daumenhoch:

They'd need to be stamped out really to get clean even edges.

I had a NOS set of Flite ones shed their skins on a rainy London Ride  :'(

I got a craft knife set mate which will help, just need to find something to size the inner and outer with, and press on the mat firm while cutting.

They are just so damned expensive for what they are and a mouse mat is only 99p  ;D

Terry that is weird... I have thought about this a few times but always thought the mousemat would be a little thin  :-\

I get all my cnc'ing for work done at a company that make die cutting tools and i have a friend with a press  ;)

Was thinking of making some but didn't think it would be worth it  :-[

Looking forward to seeing yours  :daumenhoch:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

They'll come unstuck Terry, plus donuts for Oakley's etc are thinner towards the outer perimeter.

I've made some, I've even got a cutter I made to go in my press at work, I've not noticed the material coming off yet, I've got two sets in use

Will find it at work tomorrow, all it is, is a sandvik blade mounted in a piece of ply, I was lucky to find an old one at work that was about the right size out side diameter, but the centre hole was only 10mm, after some routing around I budged two old cutters into one board,
