wheel help please..
« on: September 10, 2013, 02:01 PM »
Right guys ive recently put a wanted ad up for some red box rims to go on a team goose im currently building.

The frame/forks are being re sprayed candy red so ideally want to rims to be as mint as poss..

Having trouble trying to find some full red boxed rims as been told by another member that shiny sides didnt appear on bikes until mid 82 and definately not on a team goose.

My question to you all are what do you think i should do:

1) Carry on searching for a mint pair of red wheels?
2) Find some surviour ones, get rubbed down and prepped then sent to be re annodised?

Is there much of a difference price wise between finding a mint pair to prepping sending to be re annoded?

Your help is much appreaciated

If you have a specific rim in mind and that is what you want then you need to be patient and wait for them to surface.  Most of the fun of this collecting hobby is the chase for parts.

However re-anodising isn't expensive at all, my anodiser does a set of rims for £15-20.

I use a company down here in Bristol called Bryony Metal treatments, although to get a top quality anodise you need them highly polished which you will have to do yourself (or find somebody to do it for you).
