Opinion on crank set up
« on: September 07, 2013, 08:45 PM »
Evening chaps,
I've been thinking about whether to go for a 1 piece or 3 piece crank on the 83 loopy ripper I'm building up and can't make up my mind   :-\.   I like the look of both of them.
Chainring is a + style tuf neck (similar to the old redline ones).

Would really appreciate your opinions please to help decide :daumenhoch:

Many thanks

Both look good but at the end of the day its down to your personal taste.
I prefer one piece for riders and three piece for carpet queens.

Cheers for your help guys. I intend to ride it so more swayed towards a 1 piece crank.

SBD is powdering it for me and not due back for at least another week so I've got time to change my mind again  :D

Good call on the SR crank Patric and they're supposed to really light.

I have shimano sx pedals 9/16 - Does anyone know if I can change the axles to 1/2 inch please?  They are on a 3pc at the mo but looks like I'll go with a 1pc for the loopy.  Thanks

Cheers Patric. I'll have a look round old posts to see if an old thread covers how to swap axles.

If they're a direct swap for DX I might be up for a swap...
Just bought some DX with 1/2" spindles, not even took them out for a look yet to see condition but may be an option & would keep them Shimano rather than getting the halfords ones...

Thanks Griff and a good option - I'd be up for that.  :daumenhoch:  I don't know if the sx and dx ones are the same - hopefully someone on here would know.

I wouldn't bother with any of it & focus your attention on your family.

I expect someone will be along in a minute to confirm....

Just to be 100% clear, mine are in decent used condition but I haven't seen what they look like inside
They do seem to be spinning fine though just holding the spindles in my hand and spinning the pedal bodies

Not in any rush just give me a PM whenever you decide

Thanks Griff.  I won't be able to check my pedals until next weekend and will drop you a pm once I've looked at them.  Cheers.

no probs - just let me know  :daumenhoch:
pedals are fairly low on my list of things to sort out so not going to rush out and buy the halfords ones just yet
