Coventional V's Half Link

I'm looking for a bit of info from guys and gals that have used both on their scoots.

What would you say, if any, are the benefits of using a half link 1/8 chain over, say, a KMC 510s 1/8 conventional chain??

And what half link would you recommend if you feel they are better??

Half link Terry if when you slam your rear end a conventional chain ends up too long/too short. Disadvantages = the pins are fookers - bit more dodgy at staying in place if you shorten/lengthen em (ie don't get it right first time), and they weigh the same as the old late 90's motorbike-like chains.

Best of both worlds - Oddy chains (they're actually a rebranded KMC) that come as a standard chain with a single half link for slamming. Other brands are available 

So what I'm trying to say is stick with a conventional chain if you don't need a half link

It's for my Hutch mate and I thought maybe a half link would look more appropriate on it than a conventional 510s as I think I will be using this phat chainring:-

I've got one of them FBM's in black - bloody lovely sprockets they are. And a White Ind. freewheel - they're the mutts nuts of freewheels - only ever had a go on a mates bike with one on, you must be made of money 

In all honesty though fella, you're better off sticking with a conventional chain with a single half link if you need it. Although I'm sure others haven't had troubles with em, I found em to be a pain in the proverbials (literally - well it was the stem really that made the pain, but the chain that caused it).

I got to admit mate, the FBM is real nice, fookin' heavy too    I could get 2 sprockets out the one cut through the middle 

I was going solely for image with the chain thinking that it would be more suitable but as I will be riding it, I need something that won't break

Half link chains will stretch more, due the the side plates (which are cranked) `straightening' out.

They look good, in certain circumstances, weigh more, generally cost more and as said above, can be more fiddly to fit.

We trialed half link chains on the conveyor drive units we used to make, made the pitching more flexible, but the tensioning was dire after a bit due to stretch, ok, these chains were big old fookers, but the stretch was more than evident.

Stick with a std chain is my advice

IME straight links are better for the reasons MM stated above.
Having said that, I LOVE having a few half links around for adjusting chain length easily.

Oddy bluebird chain has a half link allowing for finer adjustment if that's the issue?

And I got no stretching on the full half I had, the fooker just went one day.
