Afternoon...thought I would lighten the afternoon up a bit ...

When you build do you wait until you get all the parts or build as and when you get the part?

I try to collect all the parts, then build. The research and collecting of the parts is the bit that I enjoy most. I do have a Hutch pro racer that's been sat in my wardrobe for nearly 2 years. I feel that if I don't start building it soon, it'll never get done, so I will make a start soon. It means that I won't be able to lay out and photograph all the parts like the usual Hutch builds, but I can live with that!

Get all the parts 1st, lay them all out on my naked body so everyone can have a good old moan then give it to Steve to build right .

Bit of both really. Sometimes I can be really patient, other times I want the bike built yesterday :idiot2:
Who wants to ride with Eddie Fiola?

Wait until I've got all the bits and then realise I've forgotten something.

For me it depends on what parts i have.,

I dont have a bike stand so i find it helps to build to a particular order that helps me construct the bike making it easier to put together.

So for eg if i have all the parts but not the BB i wont start the build it as i always start with the bb & the headset , simply because if the frameset has been powdered a lot of the time i'll need to get the dremmel out to slightly take back the finish on the inside to fit these parts parts which can get messy. I just find that its good to get this out of the way first & clean up the crap.

Usually next in will be seatpost seat /  stem & bars before I flip the bike over in order to fit the wheels crank chain pedals & finally flip it back to fit the brakes & grips ????

Dont think I have OCD but I just find it a reasonably practical way to put a bike together without a stand,  :daumenhoch:

Pretty much all my builds have come together in the same process, starting with frame and forks obviously, then it's:

Headset
Seat clamp
Seat post
Stem
Bars
Seat
Grips
Wheels and tyres
Brakes
Crank/pedals/spider/ring
Chain

Don't know why I do it like this, but it works for me. :daumenhoch:

But it won't work out like that if your after rare parts, say if your looking for a headset then your seat comes up etc etc.

I never use rare/expensive parts, waiting for bits doesn't interest me. All my bikes 6-8 weeks to build. :daumenhoch:
