Not sure where the serial is situated on the new re-issues but, that orange cloth seems to be located perfectly to hide a serial number.

Ask the seller what the serial is

Does seem suspicious that out of the four places the frame sits on the table a cloth is put under the one corner with the serial number $:-\$

It's obviously not NOS as its obviously been built up but he still is selling it as new old stock ( brand new) so with that being a lie where do the lies end, I would be very carefull.

He claims the serial is TLL which would make it September 83, it just looks too fresh for a 30 year old bike

I would ask him where the serial number is located and what is it, why has he with held the full serial from the listing

as if it is a genuine gen one then there would be no reason to with hold the serial number.

can't help being suspicious

an anniversary frame would be TT*****, you can also identify them by looking inside the BB (although would need a better pic)
you could always offer to pay in cash and collect (and make sure you have backup

)

Serial number is on the same side as the coaster brake anchor if I remember right

In September 1982, Torker switched to a new system starting with three letters TZZ to TAA. Around this time, Torker also changed its product line, dropping or changing all previous models and/or names. For example, the L.P. was renamed the 280 and all mild steel models were eliminated. The SN system, however, remained the same, with the exception of the three first letters and that it started at the end of the alphabet rather than the beginning. For example: TRR 8122 = May 1983; the 8,122 frame in the model series; no letter for 280. Frame production numbers started over from “1” with “TZZ.”

He states that the serial number starts with TLL and ends with an F

Why hide a good selling point.
