Chroming prices....
« on: August 01, 2013, 07:27 PM »
Ive recently bought a set of GT Profiles that are in desperate need of a rechrome.....

I emailed a company called Castle Chroming which isnt all that far from me and theyve quoted me a ball park figure of £20 per arm, plus vat, plus postage.

Does this seem about right?  :daumenhoch:

Sounds cheap, but remember cheap is not always good! You might end up with no stamp left as they will polish the hell out of em so make sure they know to go easy over it;)

Just had my Torker bars done at Hockleys for £40.

Lost (hidden) a bit of knurling but they were a mess when I sent them and it was a gamble as to whether they could be saved or not  :daumenhoch:

Cheers Ollypops.....Just been speaking with wazza about the place, apparantly theyre pretty good but id tell them to go easy by the stamping anyway.  The stamps are nice and deep so thats a good start I guess :)

Was that inclusive of vat? Sounds a good price for bars!

Id rather find a local place if im honest as it cuts out the postage costs both ways....but like already said....its not always gonna be the best option.  Id like to think that Castle would do a good job though going by reference :)

Yes bro, £40 all in but I did pay postage both ways, around £16.

Like I said, they were rusty as hell to be honest and there was a bad spot where the lever had sat for years but they done a great job on them. You can see the knurling in the sun but hey, that's hidden anyway's   ;D

As a ball park figure I had a set of Haro forks rechromed last week and that cost £30 and the finish was awesome and looked like factory finish.

Try Chrome Fix in Balsall Heath Gav but haggle with him though. :daumenhoch:

They did a frame for me for £80 and it was spot on.
