This opened at the weekend, took a trip there yesterday with the kids.  They loved it, I loved it too  :D

There's a proper gate on it and everything, not sure if there's a club or racing planned at any point?  There were posters up for skills sessions running on Saturdays through the summer though.
The berms were plenty big and deep too, kids loved 'wall of deathing them' before divebombing back down for the straights.
Theres a small pump track right next to it, and a bit of a skatepark going on too (tight, metal).
Deffo worth a visit i'd say.

This looks excellent. A complete layout change from how it's been the last year or so. I may be sticking the Haro Pro XL, helmet and pads in the car next week for an after work leisurely spin...

For those of you with older kiddiwinks here's the details of the Saturday track skills workshops

Recalculating....

OK, I am officially a doughnut. Just spent half an hour at the old Chandlers Ford, Freespace track which has not been altered, improved, resurfaced in anyway whatsoever  :LolLolLolLol:

:crazy2: :-[ I assumed that it was this Knightwood track until I got there of course. No excuse really seeing as I posted the damn link to the website above. Should have checked the postcode really haha!

So where the hell is this place  ??? As you can tell I'm not really local. Too much Sussex blood in me.

Had about 10 goes around the track anyway, got all knackered, hot sweaty and wobbly. Realised I am still old, slow and without any bottle  :daumenhoch:

Still very rideable and same condition as last year, but a bit rough and "loose" just feels slippy to me, quite a few largish stones/pebbles to avoid.

I have only just seen this.

Knightwood BMX club is my local track, we have gate practise every Saturday morning between 10 and 1pm, £2 for members and £3 for non members.  The club also has coaching sessions run by Denham and Tom from DC Cylces in Southampton.

Hopefully the club should have a web site up and running in the next few weeks.

The main man behind getting the track built was UK No1 and only person I know of to win the European championship racing on Skyway Tuff wheels, Anthony Howells

I have just bought a new school cruiser to ride there with my 5 year old son but I'm also planing to ride some of my mid/old school race bikes over there.

Would any of you guys be up for displaying some of your old school bikes at 1 of the races or events in the spring, would be great for the younger riders and their Dad's to see.

750rush of course you would be allowed to ride the track, just need a helmet.

Sawzall what is your name as long time ago, but yes I virtually lived at the Spitfires track. Is it correct that your the best person to speak to for frame / bar repairs, Darren Wood mentioned your name.

I will have a chat with the guys on Knightwood comity so that we can arrange a date in the spring for an old school event down south.

Yeah speak to Ant Colin, he knows me and Phil anyway as we've taken stuff to Bournemouth before which Matt Farrow organised along with Andy Pope.

I was a Solent rider to until i went over to the B'mouth club, i raced an age group higher than Ant and one below you. I remember you as a CW rider.

Hi Guys sorry for the slow reply :-[

First some news on the track, this week the pump track had it's berms tarmacked to match the track. The club has also got it's first official race on the 2nd of March, the last round of the southern Winter series.

Scott yes that was me on the S&M 38 special, see you again soon at the track.

Andy yes I can remember you, you used to race against Rob Marshal. Still got 2 of my CW's and all the gear  8)

Phil really good to catch up the other Saturday, I will get those Brian Curtis's out of the loft 1 day  ;)  You should have been at the track last Saturday as I caught up with 1 of my old Brian Curtis team mates, first time 1 have seen her for over 20 years, and she has still got her old bikes as well.

I have been chatting with Anthony Howells and on Sunday the 2nd of March at the first race we would love to have an old school meet / display. I would love to be involved in organising the old school section on the day but I will probably be helping the club and trying to keep an eye on my 5 year old son that hopefully will be racing for the first time. If were going to have the old school display could we leave you guys to organise it on the day if we put an area aside?

I will post on Poole Panthers FB page about the meet as I'm friends with Matt, should I advertise the meet in the meeting section here on RAD or is there a risk it going to end up too large?

Have a great Christmas everyone, Colin
