Was thinking more like the type that go on the back (if it's possible to fit one to an estate car).  ???

You could get one of these, you get a plate for tow bar and its just clicks in and out very easy and has a securing strap and clamps onto your bikes.

Friends of ours went to the south of France and had a Thule roofbox and 3 x roof cycle carriers mounted on their roof bars. When they slept at night, thieves cut through the roof bars and took the lot  :yahoo_silent:  Very secure, not!

I have one of these and when you set up to your car, you just quick release the straps and put it in the garage, ready to just mount again in a few minutes. You can also collapse it down, which again is simple but more hassle to setup each time. I did get mine when they were only £39.99 in Halfrauds though  :crazy2:

I use a cheepo one from halfrauds, my old neighbor gave it to me 10 yrs ago and its a belter.
I did get a more expensive one  that carries 3 bikes with rubber mounts for frame security, but my bmx frame was to small to go on it. as i found out on the morning of the Chester ride.
get it measured before you buy  :daumenhoch:

It was a good few years back  :LolLolLolLol:

My brother bought one of those all suspension Carrera things from Halfords and asked if I would collect it with him in Chichester. I had a Renault cab then and it wouldn't fit across the back seats so thats how I ended up buying it. Glad I did too. I think it was about 2004.

Get a Saris Gran Fondo, i got one and I cant recommend them enough. Quick, easy and secure. Not that cheap but you get what you pay for. They are also good for fuel economy as they keep the bikes facing forward like a roof rack system would but without all the aggravation of putting your bikes on the roof.

Here is mine in use:

Here is the website:

Nice one Betty, went with the Tesco one. Took 2 bikes to Mk and came back with 3.  No problem.  :daumenhoch:
