It just gets better......
There's a decal at the bottom of the seat mast, although it's hard to see what it say's curiosity got the better of me and I had to know before it lands here. Asking the old owner what it said his reply was "it's the decal the shop put on the bike when they first sold it in 78" The shop in question is the legendary Hank & Frank, Oakland California

You'll be hard pushed to find another bike with an original H & F shop decal on they're that rare

I think I would have jumped on a plane and gone to collect that myself. Having that in transit would scare the cr4p out of me.

As I said to you before it's an amazing bike Ash!
Shame it can't talk would be fantastic to see where it's been and who with!
As for the paint etc I'm sure ittl come up nice with a wire brush and some stripper

Glad your all loving it

Changed a couple of parts on it today as I had nothing else better to, I had a quick look in the stash and decided to opt for a gen 1 Dura Ace crank, kashi seat and 1020 brake set up ( all original condition ) think the parts work really well.
Gave the bike a wipe over and nothing more then took a few pics

Original 1978 Hank & Frank shop decal

PLME clamp still has the original shop decal on it too (very faded now though)

Having spoke with most of the experts in the States they've all confirmed that this is highly likely the only blue BD-III with original finish in the world, in fact no one has even seen another.
