Newbie trying not to get shafted......
« on: July 02, 2013, 05:57 PM »
Hi all, despite fighting the urge and the constant threats from the misses I've decided its time for me to take the plunge and re live my youth (If my knees are still up to it......) Long story short - I keep getting sniped on ebay despite placing some fairly hefty bids and can't be 100% sure what's genuine and what's not?

I see adds like this, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181166679988'ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 take one look at the grammer and think dodgy?

I'm going to post in the wanted section for a dp freestyler / ripper / master / TA from early 80's shortly (everything I dreamed of as a snotty 10 year old whilst cruising around on my Viceroy 30 years ago......) either complete, or frame and forks.  If anyone wants to beat me to it and let me know if they have the sort of thing i'm after drop me a message.  Any advice apart from not getting carried away appreciated?  I'd rather collect than rely on couriers, so would rather keep within the Midlands / North West, but happy to meet half way if I find what I want.  Thanks for any help and I promise i'll not nob about - Bert, Stoke on Trent.

Alright Bert, welcome to RAD, keep your wallet in your pocket and don't get fleeced on eBay. ::)

There are plenty of frame sets and completes coming up on here from decent lads. :daumenhoch:

Thanks all for the warm welcome! (I think.......)  I've never had an offer to be entered on a forum before, not sure whether to be scared, or flattered?  I'll sort out site supporter and have a good nosey through old posts.  As I mentioned, after something early eighties.  Already missed out on a quadangle and a ripper........

Don't worry about Rich Devilock. His bark is worse than his bite :LolLolLolLol:

Welcome and the best move is to take your time and be specific about what you want the bike for. The next thing you know you will be joining us on a ramp night and being stupid on pub crawls - have a look in the members events section for plenty of stupidity  :2funny:

Of course you will ignore this and buy the first thing that you see :crazy2:

Cheers

Site supporter taggy thing sorted!

"Of course you will ignore this and buy the first thing that you see"

Spen, never have truer words been spoken!  On more than one occasion I've been glad to have been out bid on Friday night beerbay ;D

Going to try not to take a kid in a candy shop approach - It was always a white TA.......then a white DP.......then a chrome master before I final fell for a baby blue ripper with white forks.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum.
Just keep at it on EBay you will get there in the end but most sellers on there these days are shill bidding on there own items which make it very hard to buy them.
I have a  Black and Gold 1985 PK RIPPER for sale at the moment for £1,000 spent more than that to build with fees, shipping costs etc etc .
I'm only around 50 mins from you I'm in Macclesfield .
