Hi I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for some general advice please. Last week I had a crazy idea to buy and rebuild a BMX. There are two small issues with this idea. I've never owned or even ridden a BMX and it's been easily 15 years since I even rode a bike at all. I do spend most of my time tinkering with stuff and I've just finished building a car and I have found myself nothing to mess with.
Being new to it all I did a bit of research into size and then jumped on ebay to look for cheap BMX's local to me. I found one cheap, locally so stuck a bid in and won it for £20.
It didn't have any information about manufacturer or model but I managed to figure out its a 2011 Saracen Amplitude Wave which from reading up isn't that great of a bike but it was fine for my first one.
I want to give it some new paint and modify it a little bit. My main question is if I spend money on new parts are they easily interchanged onto other frames if I wanted to get a better frame in the future.
I stripped it all down last night ready for paint.
It was so easy to work on compared to the cars I'm used to. I should have got into this years ago although looking at some of the top end bits it's not going to work out alot cheaper than messing with cars.
