Help needed! Primo setup!
« on: June 21, 2013, 01:09 PM »
Can you help? Sorry about the following but is't been a nightmare of a morning  :crazy2:

So I buys this primo powerbite crank set from a member on here and although it came with the BB, arms, axle and all the hardware, I have had nothing but trouble with it so far  :crazy2:

The 'useable' BB was shot and was beyond use so I buy another, easy enough.

I get the arms polished and kitted out with GT decals, easy enough.

I fit the BB into the frame, a right bitch but, it's fitted.

Now, the arms. It appears the arms are from 2 different gen sets  :yahoo_silent:  I then try to put the axle through the BB to find that there was a very slight burring to one end of the axle. It went through easy enough from the opposite end. So, I take out the axle and slam it into the non drive side arm, fit the hardware and a spacer and push the axle back through the BB  :daumenhoch:

I then fit a spacer on the drive side, place on my GT power disc to find it 'slaps' about on the axle  :yahoo_silent:

I am guessing that I will need a top hat washer but what size? The diameter of the axle is 22mm and the diameter of the disc inner is 24mm. Do they do a top hat washer like that? for 2mm?

Or will I be faced getting a new chainwheel? If so, what is the best one?

I will be running a 14T - 16T on the rear.

Thanks in advance for your help, and your time  :coolsmiley:

okay, so is it just the top hat washer you need now?  or are you still having issues with the crank set up?

if it's just a top hat washer then you can get those easily off the net  :daumenhoch:

I've got two sets of the Prolite Stealth cranks (Primo copies) and they are the best cranks i've ever had!   :daumenhoch:

Not sure what direction to go now Rob tbh. Can you get a top hat washer for just 2mm??

I would like to fit the GT disc and keep it with the bike but if I have to go NS with it, I guess I must  :(
