How long is a renthall seat post (Straight Post)

Have one of these stuck in a frame,

Considering either heating the frame or the caustic treatment but wanted to estimate how far it was jammed in..

Can't you poke a measure tape down there to measure then subtract the exposed post from the overall length. ?


If not then something slim and solid so you can slide it down the side, you'll feel the end of the post, then mark the top with your fingers and pull out.

The one I have is 30 cms long.

I tried to get one out of a Supergoose, tried everything and in the end took it to the local Coachworks. They heated up the post and frame with an oxy torch then dunked the the post (only the post) in cold water so it cooled fast and pulled it out using a vice and the frame as leverage.

Hope this is of some use.

I think Andy Rooski solved this problem with a slide hammer and a wanking motion. Might be worth giving him a shout

  Dissolve it out with caustic or ovenpride.I`ve done about 6 this way in recent months.

Hello mate,

Well i chopped a load of the bloody thing off, Then felt down the inside of the post with a long bbq skewer & if feels like the bloody thing goes all the way down to the bottom of the frame which must mean it was super long as i cot of around 6-8 inch still leaving 3 inch remaining out of the frame???

Was thinking about using this ?

    The Renthal Superlite was 12" long and the Superstrong was 16" long.

    Sounds like its the Superstrong you have there.

    True Renthal straight posts are getting few and far between now, especially the Superstrong, as a lot of them are just cut lay back posts.

Was deffo the Superstrong , the guy who i bought the bike off was about 6'3 , the post went all the way down to the BB & you can see how far it stuck out the top !!! All dissolved now though..
