G.T
« on: July 20, 2006, 09:59 PM »
I've got what i think is a 1982 G.T Nora cup.Are there any GT wizzards on here that might know a bit more.Frame No is "131658",located on the right hand dropout, stamped in-line with the seatstay tube. Also the decals on it are 4130 Chro-moly.Should they be Santa ana'thats what the pads that came with it say(in balck with yellow script)...Anybody got any thoughts?

Regards Dave.

Whats it look like?
Does it have a flat cut top tube with no stamp?
Does it have a slash cut TT?
Does it have a flat cut TT with a stamp?
Does it have drilled dropouts?
What forks it got?
Let us know?
Piccy?
If it is flat (straight) cut TT, with NO stamp, No drilling in the dropouts, then it is likely to be ERA correct, but the stickers SHOULD be Santa Ana's

the decals are probably not era correct but they suit ok, and they came along at the right time and right price

i used soapy water / wire wool, then autosol, then brasso

absolutely sure that 13 is not 18 , the date is usually 1(month) 81(year) followed by number in that run of production or 11/81 etc... they never did a zero before a single numbered month. a bike made in 81 could have been sold in 82 and therfore stickered up as a nora, or just re stickered by a kid in the eighties.

I was told by a GT expert in the US that the 'Santa Ana' frame decals came on the frame & forksets only and the '4130 Chrome moly' decals came on the full built up bikes

That is a Jan 83 GT Pro.

Very nice, mine has the #4 too. Asked on VBMX a while back, no-one knew what the #4 means.

Decals aren't correct, should be santa-ana for that age. 4130 came later.

regs Dan ;)

Only place I know is vert ego.com.

Don't know what the quality of the colors are like?

If your goin to MK, give him a call and ask if you can see a set there before you buy??

Be careful, I bought some a while back and the wings were a poo green, not yellowy.

Dan. :)

The #4 denotes a Pro and a #2 would have made it an expert :daumenhoch:
