Great collection    :coolsmiley:

One of the things I like best about your bikes is you use black wall tyres   :daumenhoch:

Thanks fellas.

Yeah I love black walls, it's only recently that I've put tan walls on one of my bikes, and that was because they were cheaper and easier to source.

Once you go black, you'll never go back.

Same here fella - used to be all about the black-wall. Monsigneur 209 bullied me back into the tan walls a couple of years ago - I'm ashamed to say I folded  :LolLolLolLol:

I feel all dirty now.

That's how you build a Flash. Probably the nicest one I've seen.

Thanks lads.

Im stoked on the Flash, the only change will be fitting some Flash forks and maybe a Profile Tri-Fan. I love all the battle wounds on it and it still rides a treat.

I had a bit of time to play around with the Big Boy today. I fitted the gyro, headset, seat clamp, cranks and sprocket guard. I'm still waiting on the brakes and chainwheel bolts to arrive then I can finish this sucker.

Here's a couple progress shots.

Time for an update.

I had some clearance issues with the tyres, so I had to go with some skinnier ones so they wouldn't rub on the breaks or frame. I have also fitted Peregrine pedals and seat clamp, AD990's, pegs and chain. I'm just going to trim the front cable a bit and it's complete for the moment. A Super Pro wheel set will go on when the rims come back from chrome.

I'm about to start assembly on this Captain America themed Hara Monocoque Elite. This bike first appeared on the cover of the January 97 issue of BMX Plus after being displayed at the Interbike trade show.

Here's a recent pic of the original bike that John Buultjens from Haro took for me so I could use as a reference.

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind words.

Rob, I always loved your Big Boy and is pretty much the sole reason why I bought the frame kit. I had saved several pictures of your build on my computer and when a frame came up for sale, I just had to snap it up. I basically modelled my build off of yours with a few small changes. So thanks for the inspiration mate.

The Monocoque is a labour of love, I can still remember soiling my pants when I first saw it on the cover of BMX Plus back in 1997. For many years, i had always thought about that bike and asked myself, "whatever happened to that bike?"
Last year, I had purchased a bulk lot of BMX Plus magazines off EBay and it had the January 1997 issue in there which had the Captain America Monocoque on the cover. About a week later, the magazines arrived and the same day a Monocoque Elite frame came up for sale, I snapped that bad boy up pretty quickly and then had a crazy idea of recreating the cover bike.

I did a little bit of investigation on the bike and found out that it was still stored at Haro HQ in the States, it just so happened that John Buultjens (brand manager for Haro bikes) used to live in the same town as me in Australia and we rode with one another every once in a while. I sent him an email and asked firstly asked whether the bike was for sale? John shut that idea down pretty quick, lol. So I asked whether I could have some Hi-Res pictures so I could recreate it the bike, a few days later he came through with the goods and I had some very good reference pictures.

I then asked a mate of mine who is a very talented air brush artist and midschool lunatic, whether he would take on the spray job. He was super pumped on the idea, so we worked out a plan and the above pictures are the result of his hard work. I have been busy sourcing parts for the last 12 months and basically have everything now ready to complete the bike.

Here's a build thread that I have been updating on OZBMX.

Yeah the fridge is awesome, its better for storing bike parts as its a bit too small to use as a beer fridge.
