starting again!!!
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:56 PM »
So the plan was to build my "grail bike" i wanted to build an excact replica of fiolas flying banana performer.
its the bike i saw him ride in 85.

my first plan was to use an 87 F+F i already had, but after mocking it up i really couldnt get over the fact it wasnt
the right year and knew if i continued the build it would always bother me. so i sold the 87 and managed to get the
correct 85 frame set (cheers brummie)

now im in a dilemma again do i build it with the pro performer forks and bars or try and find race forks and pro bars
as per fiolas set up? i loved this bike as a kid but have to admit i never noticed he rode with different forks and bars  :-\

i have the frame in paint at the moment and have everything else to finish it other than the tyres and skyway pro pads.
the kashimax MX i have located and im waiting for it to arrive ;)

so should i build it as is or do i really need the correct forks and bars?

Nice collection of parts  :daumenhoch:

If you are doing an exact replica I would source the Race Forks & Pro Bars  :daumenhoch:

I have no idea what he rode, but I bet it changed from one event to the next.

I guess it comes down to what you want to build? A replica or a yellow pro performer?

It's really difficult to build any fiola rep cos he changed parts so often I know cos I built a candy red rep last year and had people saying such or such was wrong but it is only as accurate as the pic your following off.
Find a pic u like and try to stick to it as best as you can good luck

If the year of the frame gave you an itch then I reckon the forks and bars will do the same - just my opinion and probably not what you wanted to hear but I think you'll be happier in the long run by building an exact replica of your grail bike.

the kashi MX was a nightmare to track down but finally got one and it arrived friday :)
NOS and still has the original price tag on it!!

ive also managed to score a pair of bars and ive had to but another GT race F+F just to get the forks  :idiot2: so it will be built
as an excact replica  :smitten:

You just paid 300 notes for a pair of Mach One forks!

They pop up on us ebay a damn sight cheaper than that.
Who wants to ride with Eddie Fiola?

Glad to see you've been encouraged not to cut corners on this build John    :4_17_5:

You know it makes sense ,,, besides what's the rush .  ???  :D

The best builds aren't just thrown together in a few weeks   :-\

Just the tyres and Skyway pro pads to find now  ;)

Good luck with the sourcing , it's gonna be an absolute  stunner Mr C  :smitten:

Wasn't the Yellow Performer an 84 model , anyway ?   ???

   ;)   ;)   ;)

I'm only saying as you did me for a fiver on it and all you wanted was the forks  :LolLolLolLol:

It's a shame to split it but I guess if you've got the replica bug you've got to do what you've got to do.
