scorpion zx200 build and headset question
« on: May 24, 2013, 11:53 AM »
Hi guys

Im new to the forum (and its a great forum from what i can tell  :))

Back in 83 I had a Scorpion zx200 and by pure chance some Frame / forks and headset came up on fleabay and completely by impulse
i purchased it  ;)

My intention was to build my old bike for my kids today to have a go on.... ::)

Having a tie to the bike from the past makes me more determined to get it going/finished - however I didnt realise that
a bmx bug existed and ive started to become real interested...

It all turned up and must admit for the price the chrome is pretty damn good and polished up an absolute treat and got me even more interested
in making a good job of it  ;D

I have no experience (accept from 30 years ago and memory !) so I may have some real siilly questions, so heres my first  :) :-[

The forks have the race on them, baearings sit on the race / cage into frame tube
top part of frame tube has cage side down (bearings facing up) then the nut that screws down has a race side that tightens against
the bearings.....

how tight should this be ??
finger tight and it spins very freely, but surely thats too loose, doing it up too tight makes the forks reasonably tight in spinning ??

after this comes the lock washer followed by the last securing top nut.

Just after a general pointer rearly... ::)

cheers
potts

Not a BMX headset but should give you a good idea  :daumenhoch:

I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)
