chain tensioners for 14mm axles
« on: April 28, 2013, 01:21 PM »
Hi

Are these any good? Or are there better ones around? I put pegs on both sides but keeps slipping a bit, or do people shorten chains and put all the way into dropout?

Thanks  :)

Never bother with them myself, do the wheel up tight and no problem.

I thought I had done it tight I was worried about stripping the threads? Only been on a new school bike a couple of times and may have been landing heavy doing bunny hops :LolLolLolLol:

Is it the wheel slipping or the chain stretching, I know I had to adjust mine afew times when it was new
Don't forget new skool chains should have very little slack compaired to old skool .

Wheel did slip once when I had one peg on it. I bought the bike 2nd hand but was like new and only ridden about on street so maybe its chain stretching and the other wheel nut wasn't tight enough when I got it. Will keep the chain tighter its not a normal chain its got a little metal clip holding it together, think maybe half link or something? I don't really know much about new school bikes yet :LolLolLolLol:

just do the wheel nuts up really tight like as above.  mine had a little washer that is to be taken out (to allow for the width of the peg).
i can normally pull my wheel out of line if its not anchored by a clain tensioner (on a race bike)  but have had no problems at all on my new school
