Plastic seat help please !
« on: April 26, 2013, 09:23 PM »
Okay so this is going to sound a bit anal but I've got a lovely NOS blue early kasha mx saddle and it's got some minor shelf wear ...the odd tiny scratch and blemish....

is there anyway of removing these or polishing them out without buggering the rest of the seat ?
is there such a thing as plastic polish and would it work or is it too abrasive ?

just want this thing to look perfect for  a minty show type build ...

thanks in advance guys :daumenhoch:

fit it first and sit back and have a good look
sometimes you focus on parts and their individual odd blemish
when you build the bike up you dont notice them so much :)

Show us some pic's

As brummie says, parts can have battle scars or marks and be just fine

I have thought "what if I just" and have started to restore only to find that I am digging a bigger hole and mess it up in the end

peek can polish up some plastics ~ you need to test first

you can take it too far and have to keep going to you ruin it ? trust me been there

put up some pic's and lets see what can and shouldn't be done  ;)

cheers B  ;)

Good advice to just leave it if its not too bad...... The problem with Kashis (Aeros anyway - not sure about MX) is that if you try to repair the bumpy raised part its very difficult to reproduce the bumps as they smooth out whilst sanding/cleaning etc .

Obviously if you sand the smooth sides they rough up....!?!?  :-\ :-\

Great advice from Brummie and no you can't do anything about it on anything that has a finish like the kashi mx anyway.
Especially with it been blue as well.
I have seen a black mx polished up then the sides masked up for the top to be vapour blasted then the seat re dyed black. It turned out really well but you couldn't hope to achieve this with blue.
I would rather have one with the odd sign of shelfware & blemish than one as smooth as Kojack's bonce.
When smoothed they just don't look right imo.

Many thanks for all the advice guys ... if shelf ware is authentic and a bugger to get rid of I'll guess it will stay as it is...really wouldn't want to ruin it..... I guess it has what can be described as "character" and this ultimately should add character to a build  :smitten: :daumenhoch:

as for some piccies...got no camera at the mo so no can do  :(
