.................another Skyway TA find
« on: April 25, 2013, 06:34 PM »
Dont put many of my bikes up but thought you may like to see this.

Got from the original owner. It was partially dismatled when I got it with a few of the original parts missing. I have tried to source original parts that the owner had on it back in 84 when he got it new. Pedals are Victor DX but the original owner had Shimano DX. Put on some new repop Comp 3 tyres. The Blue Dia Compe 1020s & Tech 3s were missing but sourced a couple of 1020s. Managed to find a used right Tech 3, need a left (this is what my wanted post is for). It still retains its original paint and decals but it looks far better in the pics than up close.  Has had various paint chips touched in. The other parts I have spent many hours cleaning.

Looking forward to riding  :).

XL too! Nice find.

Love the look of a TA on spokes.

TA in the decals denotes XL, should have Extra Long written on the Decals too. Standard 18.5 didn't have the TA on the decal.

That's what I thought anyway.

Hmm that is weird. Skyway TA on decal definittly no Extra Long but then again that could have worn off.  Just had a measure and its 18.5" centre to centre unless I'm measuring it wrong.

I'm confused now  :-\ as I never new the XL Skyway had TA on the decal.

The guy I bought it from had it from new and told me the decals were original. Then again he could have changed them at some point in its life.

Fortunatly I bought it as a standard bike and he did'nt try and tell me it was an XL model.

Thanks for clarifying that dordymush.

I was looking on the BMXMuseum last night and noted there was some 84 White 18.5" Skyway TA's with TA on the decal like mine.  :daumenhoch:

Looks like he was'nt telling pork pies then.  :LolLolLolLol:
