From this:
Bad repair to crack on joint of down tube to head tube, obviously had a front end impact at some point as fork steerer is bent aswell. A real shame as otherwise the rest of the frame is nice and straight with good og chrome. Oh apart from heat damage to seat tube.
To this:
Replacement T45 downtube, cut in and brased by Brian Curtis himself and he filled any tiny dings with brass filler
Forks are repairable but he dug out a pair of prototype undrilled race forks and offered them at same price
So that was a no brainer for me
His work is second to none
Off to the chromers with it next.
Also got him to sign one of my other Curtis frame sets while i was there

Hi! I sold that frame last year! The down tube "repair" was an experiment in welding by a previous owner. I cant dis them too much though, it was me who heated the seat tube getting a Hutch post out! I bought it when I lived in Bristol and worked at a second hand bike shop. I intended to get Mr Curtis to do just what you've done but never got around to it hence I sold it. Soooooo happy to see its been treated the way it deserves. Great work!
