My new bit on the side - Dont tell the wife!!
« on: April 19, 2013, 09:27 AM »

Hopefully these images turn out to be the ones I want them to be.  If they dont, its a because a) I'm have ludite like qualities and b) because the new photobucket sucks ass!!!

All being well the images below should show the first shots of my newly acquired S&M Holmes, hopefully not too controversial "reissue".

I have been a member of the site for a few years now and have lightly partaken in some north region o/s racing. I really enjoy the crack at the racing.

I have owned and raced a number of o/s rides. An 86 robbo pro looptail, 90 ish robbo pro xl, elf double cross. I currently have a free agent Limo built up, and raced it last weekend at Coppul. I'll stick a picture in the museum if I get chance.
In the past I've not been too fussed about era correctness or indeed if things even look that good, function and value for money has always taken priority.

With this Holmes, again era correctness wont be my priority over function, however, I will try to build it with a bit more respect than I have had in the past.

Watch this space.

Way cool. I wish I had got one of those when they were out.  8)

I think that this Homes and the HaroFreestyler are the only (?) re-issue frames that have done it right.
Totally as they were 1st time round, no "improvments" at all  :daumenhoch:

I dont think S&M will make them again (unless they sell for HaroFreestyler re-issue money!  :LolLolLolLol:)

is it the one thats been on ebay the last few weeks?

always wondered how to tell the difference between the og ones and the reissue if they are ment to be identical, do they have anything stamped on them to denote they are a reissue?

Yeah I bought it from the bay, I really wanted a challenger, but as you all know better than I do, no-one is in a rush to sell one.

As far as it being stamped, I dont know, I've not had all of the protection off the frame yet, which as I'm typing this I'm realising, is somewhat blase' of me. I should really check it.

yeah mk1 challengers dont come up for sale very often but you have bought a very good alternative :daumenhoch:

im wondering if there is anything in the serial number which would denote that its a reissue version

I think the new frames had the frame number SHMxxx and there were 100 made.
The old frames were HXLxxxx

Ha. I wasted 90mins on the freeagent brake today. Fitted new pads. No difference. Messed About with pad angles, cable, rim etc.
no joy.
I need the freeagent to race on until the Holmes is ready and am still undecided weather or not to keep it also.

You have first dib dobs dude :daumenhoch:

 Nice Holmes dude..
It would be interesting to see if there is much difference in geometry between your Limo and this..The Free Agent kind of paved the way for what is now considered almost standard race geometry..

Bit o'class there pal. Best frameset ever.
Keep the back end as short as you can (44-16 works perfect) and you will never want owt else. H have a brace of Holmes's, and a limo. The Holmes is very much like the limo, just stiffer.
Keep us updated on your build.  ;)
