Brake Levers - what's down with the kids?
« on: April 10, 2013, 08:40 PM »
First NS build.  Got some HOT S&M Slam XLT bars and waiting for some Odyssey Evo II brakes to arrive.  So, what are the standard/trusty levers people ride with for NS freestyle?  Seems there is a lot of choice our there..

Ill be riding front/back brakes so need a pair.  Interestingly, a few sites I have looked at seem to mainly carry RHS levers which is shite for me as need a pair but also, even if I was looking for 1, I have my rear on the left.

Thanks for any tips..

Paul

+1 on the mono lever or Eclat swift for me  :daumenhoch:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Regarding the Odyssey Monolever; I wont get to have a try with these so will be buying blind.  I presume I should go for the Medium rather than the small?

thanks for all the replies..

Paul, the Oddy Mono is frankly the no-brainer. I use a small after trying the medium as a decent newschool brake set up correctly will work with one finger, so the medium is too big :-\

I can post you a set of mediums to try as I have a set but I'll need them back at some point as my 22" newschool won't stop without them :LolLolLolLol:

Spen
Still limping......

I'm a one fingerer  :D

I prefer a trigger lever

Might still have this one somewhere, can't remember if i sold it  :-\

Hey Spen - this is HUGELY generous of you.  Thanks for the offer but Im now good.  I went to a bike shop today and saw the difference between the medium and small and I agree; the 1 finger is plenty big enough…

Thanks again – there’s a lot of love in RAD!!  :D

sounds like a special build!it's easy to go over budget, even with new school!I am building a flatlander atm and thought £400 would do it as I got the f and f cheap,it's gonna be more like £600 done I reckon! :crazy2: :daumenhoch:
