1982 Redline PL-20
« on: March 18, 2013, 11:56 AM »
Here is my new baby. That makes a full gate of Redline's for me now.

1982 Redline PL-20 (37 Serial). Frame & Fork powdercoated by previous owner.
Proline V bars
NOS OGK Mach grips
NOS Dia Compe pre-bent lever
Dia Compe Cable
Dia Compe MX1000 caliper
Scott Mathauser Super brake pads
Suntour cable clips
Brute Stem
Suntour headlock
YST headset
Repro padset
Kashimax Aero seat with KSM allen key guts
NOS 22.6mm Redline fluted post
Suntour post clamp
Repro Redline Techmatic BB
Redline 401, single pinch, full wrap 180mm cranks
44T Redline bubble font chainwheel
Suntour MP1000 pedals
Izumi black & chrome chain
Sealed bearing low flange Suntour hubs laced to Ukai 7C's
16T Suntour freewheel
Tioga Comp 3 reissue tyres. Fat / skinny combo

This thing is magnificent to ride. So smooth & quiet. Love it.

Tyres are one thing that I have a hard time paying massive $$ for.

I like to ride all my bikes, some more than others, so I would hate to be wearing out mega $$ Comp II's or something.

My Carrera II & my son's 82 MXII still see track time too so I love the re-issue Comp III.

Thank you.

When I first started collecting parts for this I had it in my head to sell it. I can't do that now. I like it too much.

I use to build anything but it had no meaning to me. I rode Redline's as a kid so I thought I would specialise rather than diversify.

Don't know. Didn't really plan to build this.

I had built these wheels to sell but couldn't bring myself to let go of them. The bike got built around the wheels.

I really don't know what else I could build. I don't do freestyle & 70's to mid 80's race is it for me.

I think a lot of us go through that transition

Lovely build there.

They are great bikes to ride as the head tube is 5" so gives a great amount of room.

This & the Carrera II are awesome rides though it's hard to beat the PL24 for size & comfort on those long summer rides.
