Had to go to Poole today to sort something out for my son's 18th B/D on Saturday so i thought i'd take a trip down memory lane whilst i was there. My bike was still in the car due to having taken my dog out an hour earlier so i thought i'd leave it there for obvious reasons. I hadn't been to this track since 1986 when i last raced there.

Poole to many, especially SC (south coast) riders was the best track in the UK, it was a sandy downhill track that when wind conditions were favorable was very fast. It was obviously famous for it's Dollies which for some mad reason were made smaller a year or so later.

It closed it's doors to racing in the late 80's due to some rare lizard or something similar that was found there. A very sad day indeed.

As you can see from the pics it's still sort of rideable today and definitely easy to recognize to all that rode there back in the 80's.

This is Gary Llewellyn jumping the Dollies at the Dr Pepper championship 1984.

Ok, lets start Andy's Poole mystery tour.

LOOKING DOWN FROM THE ENTRANCE, THE GRASS ON THE RIGHT IS WHERE YOU would have PARKED

THE SCRUTINEERING BIT

THE BACK OF THE FINISH LINE

THE START HILL, first jump you can see are the Dollies

STANDING ON THE DOLLIES LOOKING OVER THE TRACK TOWARDS THE HOUSES

ME JUMPING THE SMALLER DOLLIES BACK IN 1986

THE DOWNHILL BIT LEADING IN TO THE SECOND BERM

COMING OUT OF THE 2ND BERM LOOKING TOWARDS THE SPEED JUMP, IGNORE THE BIT TO THE RIGHT, THAT'S NOT THE TRACK

THE ABOVE SPEED JUMP, LOOKING DOWN TO THE 2ND BERM YOU'VE JUST GONE ROUND

ME PRACTICING BACK IN THE DAY, SAME PLACE

THE 2ND MAIN STRAIGHT, TO THE LEFT IS THE START HILL

ENTRANCE TO THE 3RD BERM, CRASH CITY HERE

STOOD ON THE 3RD BERM LOOKING TO THE 3RD STRAIGHT AND TABLETOP

THE TABLETOP

OFF THE TABLETOP AND HEADING IN TO THE LAST BERM

THE LAST BERM WHICH SWEEPS TO THE LEFT, IGNORE GRAVEL THAT LEADS UP TO THE RIGHT AS THAT'S NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL TRACK

COMING OUT OF LAST BERM AND LOOKING TOWARDS LAST STRAIGHT TRIPLES

LOOKING BACK UP IN TO THE LAST BERM FROM THE TRIPLES

ME IN THE SAME PLACE BACK IN THE DAY

LAST STRAIGHT TRIPLES

THE FINISH LINE

A SHORT VIDEO OF ME RIDING THE TRACK FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 27yrs, OBVIOUSLY I RODE ONE HANDED DUE TO HAVING TO VIDEO,  IGNORE MY BREATHING AS I'M AN OLD MAN NOW   :LolLolLolLol:

There you go, done, that took me ages to do.

Enjoy.  :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:

I only live 5 mins from there,I used to live on the main road, parents still do.
Spent all my formative years on that common, and most of my BMX years on that track after school,in the holidays and at weekends.
Used to watch most of the race meets,my dad has loads of pics from those days, you might be in some of them Andy !!
Can't believe how overgrown its got, last time I went and had a look was about 3 years ago. :daumenhoch:

Excellent fun visting this track on the Bournemouth ride out last weekend. Photos make more sense now. I nearly lost it on those final straight triples last week. Coming off at 1mph would have been very dangerous  :LolLolLolLol:
