82 Akisu & parts
« on: March 28, 2013, 05:24 PM »
so today i picked up a 1982 Akisu ...

The chrome is excellent considering its been ridden its whole life.

It also has an 82 stamped SR 3 piece crank and chain ring on it. So my 'techie' question - would that be right guys?? or is this a later addition and is this even correct for a BMX??

yes the one in that photo is mate, but that was put up to show the frame I was talking about (I nabbed the photo form bmxmuseum). The bike I picked up today has an 82 stamped SR 3 piece crank and that was what I was asking about.... maybe I need to shove some pics of it up???

if the 3P crank is not OG to the bike then thats cool I can use it elsewhere, but I needed to know if SR even made 3P BMX cranks back then.... ??

Here's a pic of mine back in the olden days!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Did they sell as a complete BITD? I cant remember, thought they were just framesets you built up as you wanted?? Shoot me if I'm wrong.  :2gunsfiring_v1:  I'd just build it up as you want to bud. SR crank would be period correct.  :daumenhoch:

here you go guys.....

akisu frame - stickered up as a GT  ::)

welds on the frame are actually very neat  :daumenhoch:

and this is the  crank I was trying to ask about..... is it a legit SR BMX crank... it seems to be.....

the blue on the arm is a bit of sticky tape by the looks of it..... I think they might polish up nice??  :coolsmiley:

looks like there is some 'blue' in between some of the lettering (170 82C JAPAN)

It looks legit to me mate. ive got the same set in gold and they have a silver streak sticker where your blue tape is. I suppose mine were for the db silver streak and yours were just stripped of blue anodising. era correct so id stick with them mate. it probably came with a opc and were changed for a 3 peice set.
