Author Topic: Mirage - anyone know anything or bike shop brands/products? (Read 1112 times)

Saw some nos Mirage plates in the for sale section and on ebay last week. I always quite liked the brand bitd.
A little bird told me that this was a brand owned by Alan's(Wigan) and sure enough it was Alan's who were selling the plated on ebay.
Can anyone back this up ?
I remember plates and maybe brakeguards but does anyone remember if they made anything else ?

I then got thinking were there other brands owned by 'local' bike shops and not big corporations ?

Let me know your thoughts and memories and information

yep it was Mirage was ALANS , they did number plates, power discs and bars

I remember the power discs now...brilliant

never new they did bars too

Bloody hell, I recognise those bars but never knew what they were...they're someone in the 1987 Bmx Annual using them and come to mention it I'm sure he's got mirage discs too

when we went on the RADTOR ride last year in Wigan Alan had a free rafle for loads of stuff
the one thing that i remember is the original artwork/design for the mirage plates

Sawzall has a bike aswell. In the 1987 bmx annual I think its Andy Irwin with the GT with mirage bars. My fave freestyle bars

YEA WAS,NT IT ALAN,S DAD WHO CAME UP WITH THE BRAND NAME, HE HAD A FEW DIFFERENT PROTOTYPE DESIGN,S IN THE SHOP.

yep he did Stu and i was lucky enough to get one of the original art work pieces

Factory Pilot there will be another RADTOR ...... just waiting on M.K. dates to be confirmed and RADCHESTER dates to be announced then RADTOR 2 will be arranged

I remember those GT brakeguards too..very cool

... I loved them BITD..it was yet another cool 'extra' that only bmx bikes had.
