New school bmx for old school bmxer!!
« on: March 09, 2013, 11:08 AM »
Hi

I recently got my 1st BMX again at 43 and got 1986 Haro FST for the Chester, Liverpool rides etc and enjoying trying the old school tricks.  I would like a new bmx to try Manuals, hang 5s, grinds, playing on skateparks when kids at school :) etc and going to the Blackpool events etc.

Been selling stuff on Ebay and have a budget of about £100

What makes, models should I look for, avoid? I am 43 14 stone 5ft 8in with a bad leg so not going to be doing backflips :D so is hi ten steel frames ok or gor for full cro-mo? seen lots of bikes go for around £100 quid but all look the same to me!

Thanks for amy advice :)

Paul

What Bettster said! :daumenhoch:

NS bikes lose huge value once sold, so second hand deals get you a lot of bike, but you need a few more quid than a ton. Aim for £250 and you can land a grand's worth of bike if 18 months old.  ;)

Missed one on preloved for £100 and it was worth £800! It is hard they all look the same nowadays!! may be able to stretch a few quid more but it's not going to get a lot of use it's only for playing about on :)

Wow, well done. Just need a brake and some of them squealing brake blocks and you're off.
Good score for the money, enjoy.  ;)

It came with all the brakes so will at least get the back brake on. A guy I know chris Mahoney is giving me some pegs. He does all the double back flips and stuff :)

Put the brake on, I think it's all set up ok? back brake on right side and bars spin all the way round. Can you get potts mods for new school bmx or do you need a complete new stem etc? also does anybody use anything to mak, protect from paint being worn off from brake cables, shoes on cranks etc?

Thanks
