Best way to remove pedal caps?
« on: March 10, 2013, 10:17 PM »
I've got a few sets of pedals that I want to do spindle swaps on. Problem is they have push in plastic end caps and I can't see how to remove them without causing damage. Anyone got any suggestions?

Usually, theres a small cut out, but either way, your cap is gonna get trashed. New caps time if ya want it new. You could drill a centre hole, and make a pin in the shape of a L. Pop it in and pul out. Other option is  A T T A C K.

I would have thought a good soak in hot water to soften them them a couple of stout wooden toothpicks/skewers would do the trick  :daumenhoch:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

might be worth a try ? but you know the rubber helps unscrew jam jar lids, with the grip and twisting action - quite a few caps unscrew - might be worth a shot ?  ???

Have a word with sbd as he's done a few pedals for me recently and the end caps are with the spindles and bearings in a little bag and aren't damaged at all.

Not even a mark.
