Which Wheels ?
« on: February 25, 2013, 12:43 PM »
I'm going to build a mid / old school BMX using a Haro F&F but rather than using Skyway mags like my other bikes, I think I might fancy using spoked wheels instead.

The bike'll be a show poney, possibly used a bit but not really in anger.

What are my options / your opinions and where would you buy them from ?

Cheers in advance

You say mid/old, but what year is it as stuff can change from 1 year to the next!;)

The F&F's are actually from about 2001 I think. It's this

I don't want to build a period perfect bike - just something I like the look of but with an old / mid school feel

worlds your oyster for that period, depending on price of course,

I was running primo pro hubs on primo hula hoops around that time. very good set of wheels, you could also look at gsport stuff although they are very weighty! you could try and hunt down some haro mega hubs if you want to stick with the brand. lots of people were running alex rims around that time. snafu were doing stuff but not sure how easy it is to get hold of their stuff.

They pop up on eBay all the time mate and avg about £25 or you can get the better haro mega hubs that have sealed bearings

I have some silver, 48 spoke wheels which would suit your bike. They are from an abandoned project of mine. I will fire you some pics later this evening.  :daumenhoch:

I've just sold a good pair of Haro 48's from the late 90's/early `00's for £17, and they weren't snapped up, pretty nice too.

Just gathering the bits to build up the Haro Mega hubs that KevS sent me last year, probably gonna be wrapped in Sun Black box rims, which are pretty reasonable and easily available.

There are some no name 48's in my sale thread if you don't fancy what Ben has.

Cheer
