Woody Itson's New Trick Star
« on: February 18, 2013, 04:07 PM »
I know Woody had the frame made last year but he's just posted a piccy of it built

Made by Standard Byke

original TS Geometry with an inch added to the front end. Internal headset and 990's on the front and rear. Everything else is the same as it was back in the 80's. I sent Rick an old TS frame to jig to make sure it was correct and he did a great job.
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Normally try and avoid negative posts but for me that extra inch at the front makes the gap between the front wheel and the downtube look massive and a bit odd  :-X
Maybe its the forks?  :-\
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

I see he still relies on an SST Seatpost, even if it is 30 odd years old. That's half the reason they're so expensive, quality costs.

It just looks a bit wrong for some reason?  The pegs are hideous IMO

I think it will be a grower though?  Maybe it just needs the pegs putting back on the forks :-\

standard made this for woody recently, its a modern geo bike so the head angle is different but super strong.
you can get the fork pegs added but woody wanted regular pegs.
rick allison also has a modern version like mine .

I like it.  I think the forks could be made shorter so it reduces the gap a bit.  :daumenhoch:

The 24" skyway ta's look wrong in the same area. With a massive gap between the downtube and the front wheel.

Prefer the look of the Kappa personally, something really weird looking about the Woody Trick Star.

This is correct I contacted Standard about making a one off frame with a trickstar front & a few other bits I wanted, it was only around $550 + shipping.

If shipping + the import duty were not such a cost I would get one, I may still do  8)

Standard do some great stuff  :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:
