September 29th 1980 (11y/o) - got my first BMX well almost  :LolLolLolLol: a Halfords Turbo in black & Red been hooked ever since.........
will post photos of me in my Halfords Uniform and my bike the day I got it when I get the pics from my parents house this xmas.

so that means I've been into BMX for 28 yrs, and as far as I can remember I've always had a bike throughout those years.

Was it really 1980 those Halfords Turbo's were out?  (Oh the shame)  :-[

Got a Redline for my 15th birthday in '81, but didn't really ride it that much. I didn't like BMX that much then - though it was all phoney gay crap.  I was riding motocross and ATCs and loving it.

Then, at some point in '82 my friend finally convinced me to go riding with him at Rom and I was hooked.  :)

I'm not in this pic. but this is the crowd I met one day at a local park - Steve Baldrey, (Crazy Leggs - bloke in the center) Ralph Tribe and Eddie Morris (Radical Rat) - know as the Belmont Bombers from Belmont, Surrey. This was taken around '79/ '80.

Check out those lovely bikes  :smitten:

I met this lot in 1981 riding my Team Murray down the local park - Such a cool feeling to meet others with the same passion for BMX. Back then, if you saw another BMX'r, you had to stop and say hello and ask where's some other local spots to ride and they'd tell you some secret spots. Check out the Tracker boy wishing he had a BMX.  8)

I remember getting Halfords race pants and crashing on the grass on purpose to see how trhat foam padding would hold up...ha ha ha. What a twit.

This, I think, must be early 84?

I'd been riding for about three years by this time. the Curtis freestyler that I'm riding was the culmination of the usual bit by bit build that started with a diamondback viper.

this is unfortunately the only picture of this bike.

Within a month of this picture being taken the bike was stolen and my bmx days were over! well, for 23 years at least ;)

My first bike was a Black & Red Halfords Turbo, love that pic Moose. Think it cost £89 :P

Were they really about in 1980 ??? I can remember I was one of the last kids in my hood to get a bmx, so they must of been riding in 79.

I don't have any pics going that far back, expense of film etc ;D Here's one of our local sunday morning sports centre gathering, this must of been 84.

Below is last pic taken of me riding bitd, 85, sold bike a few weeks later :'(

Love the old school pic's, keep um coming fellas. Me ma says she has found 2 old bmx scrapbooks whilst clearing the loft, so I should be able to post some more ol school pics soon 8)
