Oven Pride seems to be the easiest.

Dave Rombloke found it and I have used it for several things now.

You can buy it from Tescos. It is an over cleaner. You can even take the bits out without using gloves.  :daumenhoch:

Very easy to use.

Does that really work? Or is caustic the best? I have one to do too!

Dave (rombloke) - do you fancy doing it for me with your fancy polishing ways?!  ;)

i prefer caustic cos its cheap, does loads, and i know how to use it.

the oven cleaner is more subtle and not as nasty so its worth a go.
I want to touch ORB

i used that oven pride stuff to strip a ring at the weekend

it worked really well. not stinky like the soda

i used the lid off a big paint tub. very shallow, as you dont need much gloop to strip it. leave it in a couple of mins

i bought the oven pride from wilkos
it was 4 quid

its like a shampoo consistency, and is easy to manage

bung all your steel bits and bobs into the ooze after you have done the ring - cleans up bearings and hub parts a treat!
