And so the changes/cancellations begin!!!

Crewe on 14th April cancelled.
Mid-lancs 21st April now on 14th.

This works out well for me, so I'm quite happy.

(Oh, congratulations on Saturday's win Cotty. From where I was it looked close at the front.)

ok, just to upset you all now.....I am looking to change old skool racing in the north this year!!

Heres the plan:

Old Skool will be an open/fun category.  BC membership will not be required, but entry into oldskool will not be valid for Brits qualification or for BC Ranking.

£5 entry, all the money goes to host club and they will give you a medal or sweetie bag, same as the novice classes.  Each event will be separate with no series points.
(Depending on Numbers you may be mixed with 18+ Novice for the racing)

What do you think?

Before 2009-ish (before Old School was "official") Moley used to keep track of the points and updated a table on one of his website.  I think that would still work (assuming Moley is still alive and willing - otherwise someone else could do it).

I think this sounds great.  This could really help get Old School numbers back where they should be (3+ gates!).

One question though:  If a rider with a licence/membership wants to race say, Masters and Old School,  will this be allowed?  I expect there will be quite a few who would want to do this.

Cheers

If someone wants to unofficially maintain series standings this is fine.  I can provide the data, I just wont be able to publish it with the main series.  I will still publish the event results.

If you have the necessary membership, no reason why you cannot ride both.  This is where I need to be careful about how the race is registered to ensure you are not riding novice and expert.  The model is based on events where BC run 'open' SX events at the indoor.  If they can run an open event restricted to a certain level of rider I should be able to run one subject to a type of bike.

And its hoped that the clubs will find the extra income helpful.

Ian this is an excellent idea and a big thanks for your thoughts time and effort. But i would also need to be able to do an expert class as well.  I really do hope this will be possible. Because i would love to be able to beat cotty in 3 classes in one day.:-)

Event has been registered and approved with Old SKool as an Open Class

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/87605/The-North-2013---Round-1

You can enter online, or on the day.  Charge will be £5 either way.  You can enter Expert classes as well (although if you do these are £10 per-reg or £12 on the day)

If you didn't race last year it would be helpful if you entered online for the first event so I can get the computer updated - last thing I want is the first event to face massive delays like Goldcoast last year.

Ian, you are a star  :4_17_5:

Right then chaps, no excuses, someone has just supported O/S in a gihugous way, the least you all can do is support the events. Lets get the headcount back up to where it should be, the envy of some of the other classes at a race meet. More importantly though........come ride yer bikes and have a fookin giggle, its better than sex with hunterdubber
