My understanding is that it's an open class in terms of ability (i.e.  you don't need a licence) but is restricted to OS Legal bikes.

Personally I'd like the restriction to move a bit and reflect what people are building these days - say, anything pre 2000.  It'd retain the correct spirit of racing and increase the number of potential riders.

people could double up then with an additional 'run what ya brung' class. i'd knock old school on the head if the rules changed  :(

was going to try to do a few rounds this summer as the new format suits my limited resources , great job by the way to those involved with sorting this out for the OS racers :daumenhoch:,

there was a bit of a debate the other year about people riding OS on bikes that didn't fit the rules or rather as said the spirit of OS , the rules were always bent a little bit but the advantages were miniscule so  it was down to the riding ability or lack of  ;D     of the riders rather than how good the equipment is ,   i think the  " unofficial " rules of 1"headset ,  caliper/ single mounting point brake and i think date of pre 92 ?   (unsure on that)  keep things grounded so to speak by limiting the available equipment meaning there has to be a little bit of commitment from the riders to meet the criteria and the idea of racing Old School bikes, as said though this also limits the amount of riders willing to get involved,

I'm on about the rules for the bikes

1" headset, caliper brake, it should stay that way, if we say pre 1990 i'm fooked and i ain't buying another bike just to meet the rules  :yahoo_silent:

The license requirement has thinned out numbers over the last couple of years, hopefully some will return

I paid for a licence last year to do just one round  ;D

1" headset n quill stem n caliper brake (non-canti/vbrake, unless early group one haro,) :daumenhoch: thats it i reckon, its not difficult. if the bike you have doesnt fit criteria, why race in an o/s class? if it keeps getting watered down i'tl end up:

'people who like or own old school bikes but can race what they want' class.

I feel it deserves a bit of effort, even respect, come to think of it
