Redline RL20
« on: January 22, 2013, 12:00 PM »
I've got the chance to buy a Redline RL20 from a local bloke that's selling off his collection.

It appears nice a straight with no dings or scrapes. What sort of price should I be looking to pay. He's mentioned doing it to me for £200 as I've just bought his pro performer off him. Is this a fair price?

Depends on the year really, but I'd say anything before 88 would be worth £200 ;)

The 84 Prostlyer is worth around the same as the twin top tube 86/87 Prostyler, they would be easy £300 I reckon. Just my opinion. :D

Twin top tubes as in RL20II are worth twice that easy (£500+).  Its still a good price for a tidy RL20.

What else is he selling  ???

As I said easy £300 for twin top tube (which is lovely looking frame) but they do go for well over £500 as well, as Jaan says. ;)

Look out for the rarest I think, which is the 86 prostyler with lower rear standing platforms and single top tube :) Again I might be talking bollox :P

That's 84 the first one, defo worth £200 ;) If you don't want it, I'll take it off his hands, lovely frameset. In good nick, you'd double your money would think :)

Looks to be in perfect condition, other than having been built which I'm assuming you wouldn't know once it'd been rebuilt. I'm only getting it cheap because I just bought a grey GT Pro Performer complete bike off him.

£200 for an early RL-20 is a steal. There is a frame and forks on here now for 350 and that is cheap.I have seen them go for 500 plus. :daumenhoch:

i imported the GT a few years ago, it is an orignal grey 86, which was colour matched and powdered by Dan who did his usual amazing job on it, i then sold it to zippy who built it up and it looks cool as fk  :daumenhoch:

Apologies for the crappy pictures, I'll take some more once I get the time and the sun is out. The bike is absolutely mint. It's never even been ridden since it's rebuild. The guy insisted I carry it to the car so I didn't get the tyres dirty. Apparently they're hard to get hold of.

If the guys Redline is anything like that, at £200, bite his arm off!

I got it from a guy called Simon who owns a local bike shop. I've been buying my road stuff off him for the last few years and we got onto the subject of old school bmx's. he mentioned he had a few then started reeling of a list of all my dream bmx's. as you know one thing leads to another and before you know it I've bought a GT Pro Performer lol

I'm giving his Redline a miss as he says he's got a really nice Trickstar I'd absolutely love.

The funny thing is he doesn't know what colour it is lol, he can't remember if it is red or blue. I think he's waiting for it to be picked up by his mate. He said it had the bars with it too. He's not 100% sure he's selling it so if it's nice I'll have to try and persuade him  :D
