Great to meet a load of good blokes over the weekend at my first MK, and as my head is bursting with new info thought it might be about time I started to update this page.

First thing I learnt was that there are a few design changes with some folks TRM's, If your frame has a strengthening plate welded to the underside of the seat tube and also another to reinforce the rear brake mount, I suspect that these are later built frames
I would like all the owners to check their bikes,  and let me know ..........either way , yes or no...........if they have this modification
I may PM you directly if I get a poor response to my demands!
The" Legend" aka ANIMAL sent me this great bit of history which adds an interesting twist to the TRM story ,given that the address is about a mile from my house I have no excuse not to follow this lead up, who knows there might be a garage full of unsold TRM,s there!!
I think this is from 1985-6

Was also great to finally meet MANI, great bloke and has a real gem of a photo of a prototype TRM race frame for us all to see ..watch this space

My TRM has the dual plates and also has thinner gauge material

Which came first. I would suggest this one the the beefed up the plates due to stress raisers caused by the plates. But who knows

just to make things a bit more interesting        Look at this Gem

This was "MANI"s bike back in the day
I need to check a few things out with him but the story so far is
Lad went to buy a new TRM from Stechford Cycles in '83, but non in  stock.
However they said he could buy this "second-hand" prototype instead.
(note the tubes are Not crossed over)
Mani then bought it off the original owner , he later  swapped/sold it

I have numbered it TRM #0000 ...

Just bumped in to Nigeb , who has met the bloke who made the jigs for the TRM freestyler, obviously I have loads of questions to ask him, and luckily he only lives a couple of miles from me so I will try to arrange a meet up
anyway , he reckons the x-frame was borrowed from that of the NORTON Featherbed

Cheers Griff,          There worlds apart

ORIGINAL unique padset for race, note the TYPO technics should be techniques

Hey guys.

I think they are one of the first set of pads made. I was around when the first frames came out and had a white one with red skyways and a chrome one with skinnies for racing. I rode for TRM around 1981. My Mom made the first pad set as nothing could be brought that would suit the frame, she made a good few sets and I would say thats a set that she made as you can see they are not perfect. The first sets had stickers on that would peel off and then we got them screen printed. Wish I still had mine thats for sure.

My phone somehow has randomly taken me to this thread.... It's bloody amazing!
This just shows you the importance of the Rad site as opposed to FaceAche.
I bet there are thousands of brilliant threads like this that can be accessed for research if people need them.

It's important that newer members and FB members are made aware of the wealth of knowledge that can be found on here in old threads!  :slayer:

Yes, that is me mate.

I picked this bike up near enough complete from a guy in Walsall. Chrome wasn't great so she's been re done. Building her as race bike that's what my memories of them were. Always used to knock about with Derrick and I'm still in touch with Jon Turnbull.  Been asking him what parts he had on his so I can replicate it.

I'll put some pics up of how she's coming along.

Nick
