******The rare star lands ******
« on: January 14, 2013, 08:29 PM »
Got home today to find an oddly square box in the east wing study  :LolLolLolLol:

Was expecting a frame and forks but the box also had a set of original bars, 4 spinner pegs, acs rotor and front weinmann brake smuggled away in the crazy assortment of packing materials  ;D

Honestly i think the seller must have been diving around in the bins behind lidl but it did the job  :LolLolLolLol:

And to put you out of your mistery misery, its a Starway Freemaster pro

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

It looks great. Very dacade'ish in the half chrome half paint.
It will be good to see it when it's finished. Are you going for half chrome half paint?

Dont know when it will be done Darren, would be nice to give it a few runs out.
The chrome is alot thicker in the unpainted areas and in decent rider nick, where the paint went its much thinner, i guess to save time/money etc so if i painted it stock she could be a decent rider straight out the box  :daumenhoch:

Looking at a few peregrine parts for it as they were stock but i may throw a few oddities on it as its such an unusual bird  ;)

Well I'd never have guessed that frame set - don't think I've ever come across it before. Love the white and chrome combo  :smitten:

Yeah i recon so, there is a distinctive change in the chrome finish and a suggestion of the original colour inside the bb

Oddly enough there is a sort of Haro coral pink inside the bb but white here and there on the frame. Will probably go with the white if i do paint it  :daumenhoch:

Had an eventfull evening with this, decided to give the chrome a bit of a polish to see what sort of finish i could expect. Well please with the results.
The areas which had the thicker chrome came up a treat and minus the odd blemish here and there will look great once painted saving me a fair few bob an a rechrome.

Better still the geometry kept catching my eye and made me dig out a tape measure.... 19 3/4 inch top tube   :daumenhoch:

Seems very roomy for an 87 frame, anyone know of anything similar length wise of that age?
