Oakley Goggles / Full face thing - Advise
« on: July 19, 2006, 11:55 AM »
Hi,

I have a pair of old Oakley goggles and full face thing that I would like to use, however, the foam around the lenses has perished and the elastic round the head band is knackered....

Does anyone know if I could use the full face mask thing with a new set of Oakleys... I am unsure what fitment the new ones have on them?

Otherwise, does anyone have any idea on where I could pick up a good quality old set?

Will post pics later that should fully explain my predicament!

Thanks

Aaron

my advice is use your full face. i've used the chinbar on both my full face helmets racing at hersden in the last year.

wouldn't fancy face planting in one of those oakley masks. they do look cool though don't they.

Yeah, thought it gave me the more menacing look >:D

Also trying to find a black Zeronine Visor for it too... think I have sourced one through Rainers Bike Shop

Do agree about the safety aspect though.

Only trouble is that the foam round the lenses has also perished (If its not one thing, its another!).

Think I may have found some NOS ones on The Bay, otherwise, my local MTB shop has some new ones in that I can look at, to see if the face mask fits.

i do believe

hobby craft or hobby zone (to be found @ ur local retailpark)

have foam about the same thickness as around the eyes of the oakleys

a little of tony hart,s magic should bring the gogg,s back 2 life :daumenhoch:

I'm sure that I have seen on the 2006 mx championship coverage that the goggles being used by some of the riders have the old style "oakley" rather than the "o" on the elastic. So that may be an idea for getting that os look back. I have an old blue pair in the same condition, the foam has completely come off.

I'll have to look at the before and after resto of these too now ;D

Cedric Gracia (MTB'er) has been using NEW old style lettering Oakley goggles in the mags  :daumenhoch: .

They may re-release them or Not !!
