Ok, your right, maybe I need to express myself in a more specific bracket.

On many forums we have certain bikes with reference to the 'holy grail'.
These are usually more well known bikes from the big manufacturers that have either been made in limited numbers or are early bikes in which only a few have survived.

There's a couple of collector's I know of who have not been members on here and have some uber rare F&F's and parts

Sean's R&R/ ex slingshot is rare and Ash's got some very rare 70's bikes as well, along with a couple   scot breithaupt actual bikes  

The ACE F&F what Andy has is also very very rare

There is no one bike that everybody would call their holy grail!Everyone has a different 'holy grail'.For one man it could be something quite common such as a Skyway t/a or a Haro master,For another it could be something uber rare and exotic like a VDC freestyler.As said before rare is not always desirable just like the aforementioned VDC which many do not like!Some bikes are rare because not a lot were made and they were too expensive bitd for many people to own one.Some are rare because alot broke bitd.Some are not that rare just very desirable.It's abit like saying who is the 'most desirable woman' in the world.There would be many differing opinons!!

I agree, and in my original post i stated that what interests me is the difference of opinions.
I'm also hoping of posts with pics and info for us newbies to research and indulge.
And who knows , maybe there is a more 'popular' rare or desirable product that reached out to the masses more than the others.

Rare would simply mean in my eyes the only one in the UK regardless of its value.

My Slingshot was rare but I think mainly for the Slingshot forks and Slingshot bars.  

My R&R is the only one in the UK, but many of us on here have the only ones in the UK.

To be honest I think this site has some of the rarest and best bikes anywhere in the world.

  steady on Terry!they aren't going anywhere,being whipped off and sent for aqua blasting in the new year as they are not quite as white as I would like!Really nice set though,not a stress crack in sight!

You don't reckon it's a good idea then??it doesn't really show in the pic but they are a bit beigey when compared to the Hot seat.I have a set of nos whiter than white grips to go on  my new bars too so they will look even worse.
