vf airzone survivor build...
« on: December 16, 2012, 05:15 PM »
Hiya fellas as some of you may know i picked this up a while back

was happily planning a full blown resto, then posted some piccys on here & the general reaction was to leave as is.
I thought id give it a go, so touched in the worst bits & sourced the parts that i didn't have in the pile & this is what came out the other end

After talking to katie Vincent she contacted vf test rider Paul glennon who is certain it's his old frame
obviously no real way to prove it but his Airzone had the same stickers in the same places & it came not too far away from where he lived... So 2+2=fook knows be nice if it was though....
Thanks to all who helped me out with bits n bobs for it  :4_17_5: & Im sure you'll all let me know what you think  ;D
just realised i forgot a parts list  :uglystupid2:
ame dual minis (came with bars)
Tech 3s
clarkes cables
suntour powetstem
beartrap 2 headset
suntour seat clamp (came with frame)
Dominator pro
layback post
dc 880 & mx1000 (these were og on my freestyler bitd)
Takagi crank
shimano sx
ppp powerdisc  :smitten:(wanted one for years)
ppp ring
yst bb
aero zytecs
oddyfeet tyres
 :daumenhoch:

Fitted a survivor kashi from senzo (thanks to deeman also)
Flipped the rear brake so if the fancy ever takes me i can do framestands too !!!

Hats of to you for keeping her a survivor.  :4_17_5:

As nice as they are i do get a bit of snow blindness looking at all of the white powdered frames about. A bit souless sometimes  :-X
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

As said already matey, well done for leaving as is and not getting it re-powdered  :daumenhoch:  It looks just like a real 80's bike and not something put together in 2012 with 80's parts too.

Nice one, love it  :coolsmiley:

How about finding a nice used seat in a totally random colour like..green or lavender? Will give it an authentic 80's look as no one had perfectly colour matched bikes back then it was more what you could nick off your mates!! :daumenhoch:
