1st build/resto in ages-ammaco team special-new later pics
« on: December 20, 2012, 12:27 PM »
picked this up on here a couple of years from ian(phantom photon).

one of my best mates from back in the day had one and i always remembered it due to having alloy brake cables not vinyl covered ones.always wanted one but never had chance when younger (as usual of my builds tho another low spec bike)

an ammaco team special.condition wise defo wasnt good ,tyres/chain shot, when split tyres from rims and removed rim tape the rims where completely gone ,only thing keeping em together was rust  ;D ;D

frame was alot worse rust wise than pic shows but wanted on this build to spent as little as possible and try to do most of the work by hand myself.

rims were cmc 2.125's but had a 1/2 reasonable set of cmc 1.75s so set about polising up what i could.had to source new pedals(de-annoed and polished) as shot and new decals as had to remove to de-rust.

fell out of love with bmx for a while but enjoying doing this again now.

had two reasons to do this tho,one was for a track day at warsop on 30th dec and nick badgering me too build again (cheers pal ) and also a different reason now,my old mate matt who originally had one of these ,his father passed away recently of cancer and he was a top guy who loved all bikes and cycling and we are going to do some sponsored bits to raise money for macmillan cancer care and i will either donate the bike to raise money or raffle it off etc to raise the money for this.

anyway 1st few build pics to get started

frame and forks polished by hand best that i could with new decals added.

then brakes(new decals added),seatclamp, stem and crank and chainring refurbed now added

couldnt resist putting wheels on just to see   .will never be a high end minter but hopefully better than when started with it.

finished at last and scored survivor ammaco pad set and caps from scotty b,cheers guys  :daumenhoch:
